Day 10 – China Town, Little Tokyo, Santa Monica and getting used to LA

Today in the morning I was kinda lazy to wake up as I was woken up at night so I wanted to sleep as much as possible. But when I stay in hostel I always want to stay outside of it as much as possible so despite of not wanting to wake up I still left around 10am. After buying bubble tea, I got on the metro and went to Chinatown. I thought there will be a crowd, but surprisingly there wasn’t that much people. Still of course Chinatown is Chinatown the shops are near to each other, the way they decorate the goods looks dense. There was a lot…

Day 9 – Rodeo drive, Beverly Hills, Grove and getting lost

As yesterday I searched the places on the map and took picture of it, today I found my way easier. I woke up at 7am and left at 8am. First I took the bus 20 wanted to go to Rodeo Drive, until I arrived to the terminal and realized I got on the wrong bus. I asked the driver where I could take the bus going back, he laughed at me but he understood that I was far away from home for holiday. He showed me where to wait for the next bus and even gave me a transfer ticket that I can use for the whole day. I couldn’t…

Day 8 – How not to sightsee in Los Angeles

Yesterday after waiting at the bus station for 10 hours I finally could get on the bus heading to Los Angeles. Of course it didn’t go smooth. I didn’t know I had to check-in my luggage so right before getting on the bus the worker told me to do so. When I was about to put my luggage in the bus, the same person told me to give my ticket to the driver. I felt so blunt. The bus departed and went all along the highway from where I could see the Strips. I already missed Las Vegas. A bit later I fell asleep and couldn’t move until I arrived…

Day 6-7 – Leaving and summarizing Las Vegas

Day 6 – Preparation As yesterday I only slept 3 hours after coming back from Grand Canyon, I decided to take another lazy day. This is my last full day at the hotel, so I started to arrange and pack my suitcase. After eating a fancy breakfast, I went out to do laundry. Arriving to the laundromat I was totally lost with all the washing machine in different size, drier and I just couldn’t figure out how this worked. I asked the worker there, where I can buy washing powder and she showed me a machine where I had to put quarter dollars in to get the product. After that…

Day 4-5 – Another side of Vegas and Grand Canyon

Yesterday I didn’t do anything special, that’s why I write today with yesterday. 24th December – Lazy day I woke up as usual around 4am, and laid in bed until 7am. I don’t understand why I always wake up at 4am by myself, but that’s quite annoying. Then I ordered room service, unfortunately I didn’t read the food description properly and didn’t realize that it’s full of meat without any vegetable. Still if I pay for it, I eat it. After I wrote 1 page of thesis, I went down to ask where I can buy fruit and I didn’t realize I had to walk almost 20 minutes to find…

Day 3 – Las Vegas casino and nighttime

I woke up at 4am but only got out of bed at 7am and I ordered room service to have breakfast again. The meal was huge, so it was enough for the whole day. In the morning I successfully wrote 1 page for my thesis and then I tried to work another thing, but I was so full and felt sleepy. In the meantime I got sick so I also needed to go to pharmacy. In the hotel I went to the casino area wanted to try them, but the security stopped me and told me to show my ID. I was surprised and didn’t really understand the situation and…

    Day 2 – Vegas daytime

I arrived to Vegas on 22nd at 2am and fortunately I could check-in to my room earlier at 5am instead of 7am. After getting a room I took a shower and wanted to go to sleep, but the sun was already rising. So instead of sleeping I talked to my friend. She is a friend I met at the hotel and as we talked, the topic drifted to my ex. As we discussed that problem in me, I started to get better and didn’t really think about my ex more. Then I was really hungry as I didn’t eat since I got on the plane to Vegas, so I ordered…

    Day 1 – 24-hour flight

The 24-hour flight My first day. I caught my flight in Budapest at 9am to Istanbul, the flight took 2 hours. In Istanbul I had to go through an addtional checking process to the USA. They asked me information like where I came from, if I have ESTA and they checked all my stuff. The plane departed late and the line was so long, I was afraid that I can’t get on the next plane in time. The next plane went to Washington, as originally I would meet my ex-boyfriend there. The flight took 11 hours, my leg started to die. I got 3 hot meals, all had cheese, so…

How to travel and write thesis? – The beginning

After a break up, starting from 21st December I’m going on a 2-week solo trip to the USA and as I’m about to graduate from university, I need to finish my thesis by April. Since I didn’t really start to do it, I’m going to work on it during this trip. How did this trip happen? Origininally I was supposed to go and stay in the US for 39 days with my boyfriend, but we broke up 1 month before this trip. So I ended up booking another flight back home and accomodations. This is definitely not the best way to go and see the world as it cost me…
