Budapest is the capital city of Hungary, situated in Central Europe. It is divided into two side (Buda and Pest) by the Danube. With it’s not too modern nor too ancient style, Budapest makes tourists feel free and relaxed while they spend their holiday here. Here are few tourist attractions that I recommend everybody to visit it, while they are here.
Buda Castle district
Located in the mountain, at the other end of Chain Bridge, in the district, you can find the famous Royal Palace and the Fishermen Bastion. It’s a relaxing place where you can walk around, taste traditional Hungarian food and in the evening you can see the Budapest’s nightview which is really breathtaking. Suitable place for couples who want to spend time together in a calm, silent place.
Named after Saint Gerard, who was thrown to death from the hill by the pagans. You can see the Statue of Liberty on the hill and the Citadella. At the bottom of the hill there is a Gellert square and you can find the Gellert thermal bath and the Gellert Hotel on the square.
Named after Saint Margaret, who lived and died on the island. She is a daughter of Béla IV, king of Hungary during the House of Árpád. The island is situated in the middle of Danube between Árpád Bridge and Margaret Bridge. Margaret island is a good place to walk around in a totally green area, far from the noise of the city. Here you can find the Palatinus swimming pool, a tiny zoo, a Water Tower, Music Fountain, that in the night it changes it’s colour, the Music Well and the statue of The Centennial Memorial.
If you want to visit some historical monument of Hungary, then you should pass by Kossuth square. It is in the Pest side, near to the Danube. You can find the Parliament here, which up to now is the largest and highest building in Budapest. On the bord of the Danube you will find the shoes statues that were built in memorial of the Jewish that were killed during the war.
It’s a main pedestrian street, where you can find a lot of shop like Bershka, Stradivarius, H&M, New Yorker. It also features many restaurant, cafés, souvenir shops. The street opens to Vörösmarty square, where in winter there is a Christmas market here. It is also near to the Danube.
Situated at the end of Andrássy street, a famous street with popular brandnames like Gucci, Louis Vuitton. On the square you can see the heroes who found Hungary in the Carpathian Basin and the other famous person of Hungary on two colonnades, each with seven stautes. In the middle of the square, Gabriel archangel is shown on a high Column.
Behind the square there is City Park, where you can find the famous Széchenyi thermal bath, The Circus and The Zoo. You can buy many street food and souvenirs here.
If you want to go for hiking while spending your holiday in Budapest then you don’t need to go far to find place for a little excursion. Situated in 12. district, near to the Budai mountain, you can get here by bus from Széll Kálmán square. It’s a mountainous place, from where you can see Budapest busy area. It’s an exciting place since inside the busy city, there is green area where you can get yourself out of the busy ordinary day.
These are the main tourist attraction of Budapest that I recommend to everyone to visit it when you are here. Though it is a capital city, but you can still find the relaxing atmosphere here due to the combination of the city and the green area at one place.
